As the fourth day of raging fires dawned in Cape Town, urgent messages went out
on social media for assistance, donations and support for the courageous
firefighters who are still battling to save homes, wildlife, property and a
priceless natural heritage.

The IFP immediately responded to the call with a donation of bottled water,
apples and energy bars, which were taken to the Tokai Community Church drop-off
point early this morning. IFP President, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi MP,
personally delivered the goods which were swiftly packed into care packages by a
team of volunteers.

Met by Reverend Graham Van Veen and Reverend Luke Giles, Prince Buthelezi was
apprised of the situation. "I was impressed by the efficient way everything is
running, with so many volunteers. Community members are streaming in, asking how
they can help and delivering everything from eye-drops to Savlon and Rescue
Remedy," said Prince Buthelezi.

"Several families have lost their homes, and many have been evacuated and are
awaiting news in churches like this of whether the flames have taken all their
belongings. It's a dreadful situation and very painful to see such distress," he
said, "But it is also deeply encouraging to see the way people are pulling
together in this crisis."

On arrival, seeing the need, Prince Buthelezi also wrote a personal cheque which
will contribute to the replenishment of oxygen tanks for the firefighters. "They
are doing an incredibly difficult job, and we want to thank them, support them
and encourage them to keep going," said Prince Buthelezi.

The IFP thanks everyone involved in the effort to stop the blaze.
