The disgraceful deterioration of the Msukaligwa Municipality yet again is evident in the disclaimer opinion by the Auditor General for the past financial year and is an indictment on the ANC.

"The report by the Auditor General tells a sad story of financial mismanagement, weak political leadership, unqualified and incompetent officials and complete disregard for the people of Msukaligwa. It is shocking because in 2014 Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza summoned municipal managers and mayors of five municipalities including those of Msukaligwa Municipality to a special meeting to explain why their services should not the terminated after they received disclaimers from the Auditor General but nothing has changed at this municipality," said IFP National Chairperson, Mr Blessed Gwala.

"It is time for action to be taken against the poor performing officials at the municipality as recommended by the Auditor-General. I don’t think government needs to be lenient towards those whose actions lead to disclaimers, there is no reason to keep people who are failures, they must go, otherwise government will be seen as useless, where people would do as they wish," continued Mr Gwala.

"Accountability which is the practice of holding people responsible for their actions has become a dirty word in the ANC's dictionary largely because of cadre deployment. In fact, as soon as a hint of scandal appears, there is obfuscation and delays in taking action until those responsible are redeployed to better paying positions in other departments. But lack of accountability and failure of the ANC's cadre deployment policy are not the only problems affecting local government. To quantify the gross mismanagement and lack of leadership from the ANC would be interminable but voters need to know what to expect if they vote the ANC into power again," added Mr Gwala.

"The time has come for South Africans to stand up, and say that it goes this far and no further. They need to use most powerful weapon they have, their vote. In 2016 they must vote for the IFP, the only party that has a track record of clean and good governance. It is clear that in order to remedy this parlous financial and administrative malaise and political paralysis, an IFP government is required in Msukaligwa," concluded Mr Gwala.

The IFP will continue to highlight the weaknesses of the ANC as the governing party while continuing to provide constructive input that is in the best interests of the people of Msukaligwa and the rest of the country.
