A rare statement from the BND, Germany's foreign intelligence service, said "information from its own sources has been made available to the UN inspectors in Iraq on a regular basis."
The supply of intelligence was approved by the government, it added.
A German government spokesman confirmed the BND had been "cooperating very intensively" with the inspectors, although he refused to say what information it had passed on.
The United States promised earlier this week to provide secret information it claims will support its assertions about Iraq's weapons programme.
The intelligence is to be presented Wednesday to the UN Security Council by US Security of State Colin Powell.
Germany is strongly opposed to a war against Iraq and has refused to join any military strike, but has said it will allow US and NATO forces unfettered access to rear bases in the country - Sapa-AFP.
