Government joins President Cyril Ramaphosa in wishing all Grade 12 leaners well as they commence with their 2018 final examinations today.
The 2018 National Senior Certificate final examinations commence today Monday, 15 October with 37 340 Grade 12 learners across the country sitting for the first paper of Computer Applications Technology.
Acting GCIS Director-General, Phumla Williams said: “Grade 12 examinations are critical in deciding the future of the learners. Therefore, it is prudent for the learners to dedicate more time to their studies and we urge learners to remain focused and to give their best at this critical phase of their education. The learners are encouraged to refrain from the use of social media during this crucial period and rather dedicate their time on their studies. Government believes that parents as well as guardians have a significant role to play in creating a supportive environment that will be conducive for the learners to study.”
The Department of Basic Education has implemented extra safety measures to prevent the leaking of question papers.
Government calls on the society to rally behind Grade 12 learners as they prepare for the examinations. Government further reminds matriculants of the opportunities provided by Technical and Vocational Education and Training colleges and other vocational training centres.
