The Gauteng Department of Health will launch new fleet of ambulances at Stredford Clinic, Orange Farm.

The emergency vehicles are fully equipped Obstetric friendly Intermediate Life Support Care, 10 patient transport vehicles with 23 seats, 9 specialised light motor vehicle for rescue, 2 aquatic and hazardous material (HAZMAT) specialized rescue vehicles, 20 primary response vehicles, 1 Specialised Mobile Emergency Communication Unit with incident command capabilities, 1 Disabled Patient Transport vehicle, at a cost of R 56 million.

To advance the quality of primary health care facilities in the province as well as to encourage patients to use clinics as their first contact point for consultation, the Department will also launch a 24 hours clinic. Stredford clinic.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura will deliver the political report to the Provincial Legislature.

The report will outline progress made by the current administration in implementing the government’s ten Pillar Programme of Radical Transformation, Modernisation and Reindustrialisation.

Makhura will also reflect on progress made in achieving commitments that he made during the State of the Province Address in February this year.

As part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Child Abuse the Gauteng Provincial Government host a sectoral Ntirhisano to discuss issues the Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgender and Intersexed (LGBTI) communities.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura, Members of the Executive Council (MECs) will dialogue with this sector of the community as part of the Ntirhisano Outreach Programme.

The Gauteng government with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the City of Tshwane host the 3rd annual Mandela Remembrance Walk.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura, MEC for Sport, Arts Culture and Recreation Faith Mazibuko, Mayor of City Tshwane Solly Msimanga and the CEO of the Nelson Mandela Foundation Sello Hatang will be among those who will lead the Walk starting with the wreath laying ceremony at the Union Buildings next to Madiba’s statue.

Now in its third year following the passing of the late President Nelson Mandela on 05, December 2013, the 5.3km walk will this time around move from the Union Buildings to Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Services starting 8am. The walk will go through the city center passing through some of the iconic heritage sites in the story of South Africa’s liberation including the Palace of Justice (Church Square) and the Women’s Living Monument.
