The ANC's national conference in Mangaung will enter its fifth and final day on Thursday.

Despite delays during the conference, which started on Sunday, voting went ahead and Jacob Zuma was re-elected as the African National Congress president on Tuesday.

Businessman Cyril Ramaphosa scooped the second top seat as his deputy. Gwede Mantashe retained his post as secretary-general, and Jessie Duarte was voted deputy secretary-general. Baleka Mbete became the party's national chairperson, while Zweli Mkhize was elected treasurer-general.

A total of 295 people were nominated for the party's national executive committee.

On Wednesday, a plenary session was delayed for a short while after reports of an incoming storm.

It resumed after the weather bureau assured the party that the storm was not as heavy as initially anticipated.

The Electoral Commission said there was a delay in voting for the NEC due to ballot paper glitches.

After it was fixed, voting "proceeded well", it said.

Closed sessions included a presentation of draft resolutions on policies and programmes of the ANC.

On Thursday, the presentation and adoption of policies is expected to continue.

Zuma is due to deliver the closing address.
