The Freedom Front Plus supports the campaign and court case of Outa to stop e-tolls and calls on the public to make contributions to this organisation’s legal fund. Supporters of the campaign could access Outa’s webpage at www.outa.co.za for further information on how to make a donation.
 
According to Adv. Anton Alberts, the Freedom Front Plus’ parliamentary spokesperson on transport, Outa (the Opposition to Urban Tolling Association) will have to withdraw its court case against e-tolls if it does not succeed in collecting R1 million within the next three weeks for its legal fees.
 
Outa has an opportunity until the 21st June to collect these funds. If it cannot be done, there is a great change that the appeal will not be considered.
 
The organisation has to date received R8,4 million in donations and still owes approximately R3 million for legal fees.
 
“We also furthermore request all road users not to buy the e-tags as the system will not be able to function without road users having purchased it. The buying of the e-tags is also not legally obligatory.
 
“Without registered e-tag road users SANRAL will have to issue hundreds of thousands of demands by post.

“The postal system will not be capable of dealing with that kind of load and the eNatis system, which is the national registration data base, will also not be able to cope with the volumes of enquiries regarding motor vehicle registrations, as it can only manage 160 000 enquiries per day.

“The FF Plus therefore encourages the public to contribute toward the campaign against the e-tolls and in this manner support the appeals case of Outa,” Adv. Alberts says.
