The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation (UNPO) adopted resolutions of the FF Plus on farm murders and Afrikaans during its twelfth general congress in Brussels, Belgium, and now has to take action to protect one of its members – in this instance, the Afrikaner – in terms of its mandate.

This means that pressure will be placed on the South African government on the highest international level to provide answers and take action against farm murders and the assault of Afrikaans as mother tongue medium of instruction.

Dr. Pieter Groenewald, chairperson of the FF Plus, presented the resolution on farm murders and addressed the congress on violent attacks and murders which targets the farming community as a strategic minority.

In terms of the adopted resolution, UNPO will now call on the South African Human Rights Commission (HRC) to issue its report of its investigation into farm murders and the United Nations Human Rights Commission will be requested to investigate the issue.

UNPO has also undertaken to request the South African government to declare farm murders as a priority crime.

The FF Plus’ national youth leader, Wouter Wessels, presented the resolutions on mother tongue education to the congress.

In this case, UNPO has undertaken to call on the South African government to provide equal education opportunities to all in their mother tongues and to stop the systematic discrimination against Afrikaans.

A great honour was awarded to the FF Plus during the congress in that Dr. Groenewald was appointed as the chairperson of UNPO’s electoral commission with the election of the organisation’s president, vice president and executive committee and Dr. Pieter Mulder, leader of the FF Plus, was re-elected to the executive committee of UNPO.

Mr. Nasser Boladai of Western Baluchistan (Pakistan) was elected as the new president of UNPO and Mr. Abdirahman Mahdi of Ogaden (Ethiopia) was elected as deputy president.
