The Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Mohammed Valli Moosa, hereby publishes the National Environmental Management: First Amendment Bill for public information. The Bill seeks to amend the National Environmental Management Act, No. 107 of 1998 byadding a new chapter (Chapter 9 A). This chapter provides for the administration and enforcement of certain national environment management legislation to ensure that offences committed in terms of specified environmental legislation are investigated and prosecuted. It also provides for the designation of Environmental Management Inspectors as well as their powers and functions in ensuring and monitoring compliance with specified environmental legislation.
