Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi in partnership with the Pride of Ubuntu NPO will launch the Heritage in Schools programme on Tuesday, 27 September 2016 in Nababeep Hall, Springbok.
The Heritage in Schools programme spearheaded by Pride of Ubuntu NPO focuses on developing literacy of our primary school learners as well as promoting our National Identity and reading in schools by using different art forms to make learning a fun activity, the programme entails the following activities throughout the leaners development: Heritage in Schools Literature Programme; teach leaners about our national identity; teach leaners to recite the Preamble of the Constitution; teach learners the correct etiquette of singing both the National and African Union Anthems and drawing national symbols on school walls.
“The launch of the Heritage in Schools and Capacity Building programme reinforces interventions that promote National Building and Social Cohesion among all the learners in schools, particularly in poor rural and township regions” said Deputy Minister Mabudafhasi.
Prior to the launch the Deputy Minister will visit Sacred Heart Primary School in Nababeep to hoist the National Flag.
