Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Mr Buti Manamela will tomorrow 28 October launch the schools drama competition.
The competition is a partnership with the department of Basic Education to educate young people about the events of June 16 1976 through drama. The competition is also part of the yearlong commemoration of 40 years since the fatal protests by students on the 16th of June 1976.
The inaugural school competition is being piloted in Gauteng for 2016. The competition will be extended to other Provinces, where learners will be directed to create stage plays about the struggles of young people for freedom.
