he Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) will embark on a media tour to showcase the R45 million Manyeleti Game Reserve project on Wednesday, 26 September 2018, at Manyeleti Game Reserve, in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga.

The Manyeleti Game Reserve is located at the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality between two of South Africa’s most important and economically viable state-owned biodiversity reserves – The Blyde River Nature Reserve and Kruger National Park in Bushbuckridge.

Funded by the Department of Environmental Affairs, the Manyeleti Game Reserve project entails upgrading of nineteen tourism facilities, bulk water reticulation and sewage system, two dormitories, generator house, main hall, reptile center into an office (Administration block) ablutions and camp wash, staff kitchen with a toilet, construction of one picket (4 x bedrooms) for rangers and managers house. Supply of furniture and heavy mechanical equipment's, Erection of 17 km, 2, 4 high meter fence with alarm monitoring system.

The Manyeleti Game Reserve project was successfully completed this year and has created work opportunities for 301 people, amongst them 162 women, 216 youth and 9 people with disabilities. In addition to this, the projects has also created a non-accredited and accredited training opportunities for the local communities such as First Aid Training, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Awareness and Sustainable Tourism.

The project was funded to the tune of R45 million as part of the DEA’s Expanded Public Works Programme.
