KwaZulu-Natal Premier Willies Mchunu will today officially receive the final report from the commission that investigated a spate of suspected politically motivated killings in the province.

The commission of inquiry, chaired by Advocate Marumo Moerane, was set up in 2016 by Mchunu.

The commission investigated killings that have taken place in the province since 2011.

The premier's spokesperson Thami Ngidi previously told a news agency that the transcripts would not be made public because key witnesses would be compromised.

ANC North West says it supports Ramaphosa

The ANC in North West fully supports President Cyril Ramaphosa, the party said yesterday.

Acting provincial secretary Sussana Dantjie said no amount of labelling would deter the province from working with the president.

She said while the PEC understood why provincial chairperson supported former president Jacob Zuma, the PEC also had full unshakable confidence in the provincial chairperson of the ANC, Supra Mahumapelo.

Outa calls on Public Protector to take action against former minister

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse has called on the Public Protector to take action against former Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini and the department over dubious contracts which the organisation said should have been cancelled months ago.

Outa said they believed that the contracts were irregular, not budgeted for, and were deliberately engineered to absorb surplus funds in the South African Social Security Agency.

Outa also believes that former Minister Dlamini misled Parliament in her replies about these contracts to cover up Sassa’s wrongdoing.
