ANC stalwarts says MPs shouldn't have to choose between Zuma and SA

Stalwarts and veterans of the ANC have said it was wrong for the party to expect its members of parliament to vote along party lines when a motion of no confidence against President Jacob Zuma came up in the National Assembly next month.

The former leaders of the party told delegates at the South African Communist Party’s 14th congress, currently underway in Boksburg, that the ANC national executive committee needed to provide leadership.

The ANC had issued an ultimatum to its MPs warning them that if they didn’t vote against the motion to have Zuma removed, they could face possible disciplinary charges.

Parliament rejects DA claims of quashing probe into SABC inquiry liars

Claims that Speaker Baleka Mbete seeks to quash a probe into allegations that people lied to Parliament's ad hoc committee into the SABC board are "erroneous and without basis".

This was Parliament’s response yesterday, after DA deputy chief whip Mike Waters accused Mbete and acting secretary to Parliament, Penelope Tyawa, of trying to keep the report into those who lied during the SABC inquiry from public scrutiny.

Former ANC KZN chair denies campaigning for Ramaphosa

Former KwaZulu-Natal premier Senzo Mchunu yesterday downplayed rumours that ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa’s supporters want him elected to a senior role in the party.

The ANC’s Vhembe district in Limpopo which is Ramaphosa’s home region had invited Mchunu to campaign for Ramaphosa tomorrow.

Mchunu dismissed rumours that he was going to Vhembe to campaign for Ramaphosa

The region is backing Ramaphosa to be elected ANC president at the party’s elective conference in December. It had reportedly indicated that it wanted Mchunu to be elected as either ANC national chairperson or treasurer.
