Ramaphosa says land issue no longer the ugly ogre it was made out to be

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa made an emotional moral argument for government's land reform policy as he faced up to members of the international media at the World Economic Forum in Davos, in Switzerland.

Ramaphosa insisted at a press conference that land grabs would not be tolerated and that land expropriation would be carried out in an orderly manner and within the framework of the law.

He conceded that the issue of land reform had generated a great deal of interest globally, as well as a lot of debate inside the country, but said it was necessary to ensure redress for historical injustices.

Duduzane Zuma's culpable homicide trial postponed to March

The culpable homicide case against Duduzane Zuma was postponed to March 26 in the Randburg Magistrate's Court.

Zuma faces two charges of culpable homicide and a count of negligent driving relating to a car crash in 2014, on the M1 highway in Gauteng.

The National Prosecuting Authority had previously declined to prosecute Zuma, but changed its mind after lobby group AfriForum asked to privately prosecute him.

FW de Klerk says South Africa should never forget what we can accomplish when we work together'

Former deputy president and the final apartheid-president FW de Klerk believes there is a light at the end of the tunnel for South Africa, and called on South Africans to work together.

De Klerk addressed an event organised by the Cape Town Press Club at the Kelvin Grove Club in Newlands yesterday.

The former president looked at the past 25 years since the dawn of democracy in South Africa, outlining some of the things that went wrong, and some of the things that went right.

He said South Africa was "extremely fortunate" that Cyril Ramaphosa emerged victorious at the ANC 2017 conference in Nasrec, rather than the Jacob Zuma camp's preferred candidate, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
