Former SABC chairpersons Ben Ngubane and Ellen Tshabalala are expected to face the Parliamentary inquiry into the fitness of the broadcaster’s current board to hold office today.

Committee chairperson Vincent Smith yesterday expressed confidence that they were on track to meet their February 15 deadline.

Tshabalala resigned from the SABC in 2014 following a furore over her qualifications. A parliamentary inquiry found her guilty on two misconduct charges.

President Jacob Zuma yesterday defended outgoing AU Commission chair Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma’s leadership credentials and said her becoming ANC leader would not pose a problem.

Zuma said that  it was not going to be a problem for Zuma’s family if another Zuma takes his position.

Dlamini-Zuma is considered one of the front runners to replace her ex-husband when the governing party holds its elective conference in December.

The ANC has slammed DA leader Mmusi Maimane’s visit to Israel, accusing the opposition party of endorsing the Israeli government, instead of condemning its violations of international law.

Maimane was on what the DA had described as a private and religious visit to Israel and Palestine.

He met with Prime Minister Benjamin Nethanyau and he had requested to meet with Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas.
