Making headlines:
EFF joins UDM Constitutional Court bid
R2K says Parliament must do more about death threats to MP Khoza
And, ANC Youth League blames Mayor Mashaba for violence at IDP summit

The EFF yesterday joined the UDM's bid for a Constitutional Court order that Parliament let MPs vote by secret ballot in the upcoming vote of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma.

Zuma opposed the application on Thursday, saying such a ruling would subvert the rights of the majority party in Parliament.

EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said that the EFF decided to join after Zuma filed his affidavit.

Parliament should do more about the death threats made against ANC MP Dr Makhosi Khoza during an oversight visit to an Mpumalanga hospital in March, the Right2Know Campaign said yesterday.

Khoza, who is chairperson of the public service and administration portfolio committee, should have the assurance that she could conduct her oversight duties without fear, said the lobby group’s Busi Mtabane.

The ANC Youth League Regional Task Team in the Greater Johannesburg Region on Wednesday condemned the “spilling of blood” at the Integrated Development Plan summit, but blamed Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba for the violence.

The ANC Youth League said in a statement that the City of Johannesburg under the DA administration was “racist and uncaring” for the African majority.

On Tuesday night ANC councillors allegedly violently disrupted the IDP summit – a public consultation meeting – hosted by Mashaba at Midrand High School.
