The ANC Youth League has rejected the proposed national minimum wage of R3 500 a month and instead suggested an amount of R5 000 as the lowest pay.

This comes after the National Economic Development and Labour Council Advisory Panel on Sunday proposed a new national minimum wage rate of R20 an hour, or about R3 500 a month, after it had consulted widely with industry, labour and stakeholders.

In a statement, spokesperson Mlondi Mkhize said the ANC Youth League appreciated that there was movement and consensus on the principle of a minimum wage across the country and among stakeholders.

Zimbabwean First Lady Grace Mugabe has reportedly told the ruling Zanu-PF party women's league that she was already the president, as she “plans and does everything with President Robert Mugabe".

Mashonaland West Zanu-PF women's league chairperson Angeline Muchemeyi said that Grace told them that there was no point for her to fight to be vice president, a lesser position, when she was already running State affairs.

Grace is currently the Zanu-PF women's league secretary, a position she has held since 2014.

The Africa Group for Justice and Accountability has imagined a positive future for the International Criminal Court and predicted that no further countries will withdraw.

It emerged from the independent group of experts who met last night that Justice Minister Michael Masutha’s visit to the ICC in The Hague last week was an encouraging sign that nothing was set in stone.

The five of 12 group members in attendance presented a united front at their Assembly of States Parties side-event, titled “Imagining the future of International Criminal Justice”.
