Eskom suspends senior executive

And, Zuma campaigns for the ANC

National Treasury has released a bombshell report of more than 600 pages detailing the extent of rot at Transnet and Eskom over the last six years – and says Malusi Gigaba compromised the procurement process of controversial new Chinese locomotives.

The report, compiled after a forensic investigation by Fundudzi Forensic Investigation Services, found widespread irregularities, improper and illegal payments and flouting of good governance laws.

The investigation specifically looked at the deals between Eskom and coal producer Tegeta, the contracts between Regiments Capital and Trillian Advisory Services with both Eskom and Transnet as well as management consultant McKinsey. Tegeta, Regiments and Trillian are all Gupta connected or owned.

Eskom on Friday announced the suspension of the head of its group capital division Abram Masango.

The utility said Masango was suspended with immediate effect pending an investigation into serious allegations of impropriety against him relating to the construction of the Kusile power station.

Eskom said it took the decision to suspend Masango following the serious nature of the allegations made against him and the seniority of his position in Eskom.

Former President Jacob Zuma has said that if South Africans do not vote for the ruling African National Congress, the country will be taken away from the people after his party fought so much for freedom.

Zuma was addressing hundreds of ANC supporters and community members at the Pinetown bus terminal and taxi rank, where he was leading an early morning voter-registration awareness and campaigning for the ANC in the upcoming May 2019 general elections.

Zuma also reminded ANC supporters to attend the party's 106th birthday celebrations which will be held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on 12 January, before signing off with his signature "Mshini Wami".
