DA: [de Freitas]: Advisory: A first for SONA: de Freitas to attend dressed in traditional Madeiran attire

DA Shadow Minister of Transport Manny de Freitas will be dressed in traditional Madeiran garb at today’s SONA (State Of the Nation Address). De Freitas is a descendent of parents from Madeira, a Portuguese autonomous region comprising an archipelago of islands off the coast of Morocco.

This will be a first for the South African Parliament. The majority of the Portuguese community in South Africa originate or are descendent from Madeira.

There will be interview and photo opportunities today at the red carpet before entering the National Assembly Chamber.
