A new and highly-original collaboration has been formed between The Loerie Awards, and distinguished law firm, Adams & Adams. The Loeries are synonymous with a celebration of the creative talents and brand communication in Africa. Adams & Adams has, in turn, been protecting the fruits of their clients’ creativity in the form of brands, designs, patents and copyright for over 100 years.

“Becoming involved with the Loeries was a logical step for Adams & Adams,” says Mariette du Plessis, Senior Partner.

“Our focus has always been on ensuring the protection of the brand names, ideas and intellectual property of innovators.
“The Loerie Awards recognise the creative excellence of the leaders in the brand communications industry. We are particularly excited about the opportunity to sponsor the Young Creatives Award.”

Says du Plessis: “We are passionate about supporting home-grown talent, whether in the field of advertising or in the entertainment industry. For that reason, Adams & Adams celebrated the opening of our new headquarters in Pretoria this year, with a concert by the Parlotones. A first for a law firm, and in line with our progressive thinking and innovative philosophy.”

According to du Plessis, the public often underestimates the standard of South Africa’s local talent. It is for this reason that the law firm will be rolling out a series of workshops to advertising schools in Cape Town and Johannesburg to provide students with information pertaining to the legalities of brand protection, copyright, and basic contracts to equip them with the necessary skills they will need in their professional lives.

Adams & Adams firm chairman Dario Tanziani says:” We are very proud of our involvement with the Loerie Awards and the artists who participate. All too often our local artists, through lack of awareness or for other reasons, lose rights and revenues which are rightfully theirs. Hopefully we can help prevent that.”

“Adams & Adams not only recognises the value of creativity and innovation but integrates these values into their business practices. The Loerie Awards promotes creative thinking and is proud to be partnering with them,” says Loeries CEO, Andrew Human.
