The Congress of South African Trade Union in the North West is worried and very concerned about the role of the National Prosecution Authority is handling cases of reported corruption by the Hawks and the South African Police Services [SAPS].

COSATU North West has heard the NPA alluding to a case involving two officials that it was never reported whilst we are knowledgeable that the matter was duly reported.

COSATU North West is concerned that such practice may be viewed as been influenced to take other cases and reject others by the public.

COSATU North West is concerned that government departments such the Health Department continues to eroded from its capacity to deliver quality public services due to corrupt activities which were reported, yet no action is observed.

COSATU North West demand answered on investigated cases in the interest of the public.

COSATU North West still concerned with the handling of the late Moss Phakoe’s murder case and calls for justice to the family.

We have structures that were established to serve interest of the public and not some individuals; we have the anti-corruption unit, and must function without fail!.

And we call on the Scopa to exercise its powers to demand accountability for those given responsibility through over-sight.

COSATU North West calls for pursuing of criminal cases against all involved in corrupt activities.

COSATU North West calls on the Hawks to investigate activities affecting Mmabana Foundation, Department of Sports, Arts and Culture for example.

We are still awaiting answers on what led to the withdrawal of the case within the Department of Education in which some people were arrested and later paid a bail.

We call the National Commissioner of SAPS, the NPA and the Hawks to do fully investigation on these cases and on what led them to be withdrawn?

Our province is facing a serious financial crisis created by corrupt activities which is delaying quality public service delivery to the poor communities.
