COSATU Free State has learned with shock about the incident ,whereby a black woman security guard was splashed with urine in the face by some white students at the exit of the UFS Bloemfontein campus. We share the pain, humiliation and embarrassment which the poor worker may have felt when this incident took place. We condemn these white barbarians and bigots , who have attacked and humiliated this worker in such a sordid fashion.  We cannot continue to allow our daughters, sisters, wives and mothers to be continuously humiliated like this in the course of doing their jobs.

This is both a racist and a patriarchal attack on this worker and we call on all white people and males in the province to reject this  and make it clear that it was not done in their name!

We call on the University of the Free State to act decisively with this matter.  These perpetrators should be brought to book and the institution should further guarantee the safety of women black workers in the institution. As COSATU Free State, we would be engaging our structures to determine the appropriate action to take to highlight our disquiet on the matter!
