The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) on Friday slammed the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) for disrupting of President Jacob Zuma’s state-of-the-nation address again in Parliament.

Cosatu spokesperson Sizwe Pamla said the EFF undermined their own constituencies.

“The federation strongly condemn those aging juveniles of the EFF for their continuous hooliganism in Parliament. Their barking carnival act exposes their political bankruptcy. They have nothing to offer except theatrics and vulgar posturing dressed up as radicalism and militancy, Pamla said. ”

“The voters should punish these show ponies that are undermining the mandate given to them by the voters. They have shown that they are in Parliament to perform for TV cameras and nothing else.”

The EFF disrupted the SONA proceedings for the second year in a row, shouting “Zupta must fall” at President Jacob Zuma, where last year it had been “Pay back the money”.

They were ordered out of the chamber by Thandi Modise, the chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP).

However, the first MP to leave the chamber was Congress of the People (COPE) leader Mosiuoa Lekota after he rose on a point of order, which he used to denounce Zuma, telling MPs the president should not be allowed to deliver his address.

Zuma was eventually able to address the house after the ejection of Cope and EFF MPs from the chamber.
