The Congress of the People (Cope) is moving to suspend two of its Members of Parliament (MPs), including its deputy leader Mbhazima Shilowa.
Briefing journalists on Monday, Cope acting chief whip Thozamile Botha said the party's whippery had recommended both Shilowa and MP Lorraine Mashiane "be suspended from any work of Parliament for the duration of their respective disciplinary hearings".
He said that Cope's whips were compiling charges against several of its senior parliamentary office bearers following the release, last week, of a forensic audit - performed by KPMG - of the party's finances.
"The suspension is a recommendation by the whippery to the working committee, that the committee suspend [them] pending a disciplinary action. A due process has to be followed," Botha said.
It is understood that the process will be completed this week.
