Brand South Africa, in partnership with Government Communication and Information Services (GCIS) and Constitution Hill, today hosted senior editors and journalists from the continent at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg.

The forty editors and senior journalists who hail from various parts of the Continent, have converged in Pretoria for a two day joint sitting of the Africa Editors Forum and Press Officers from 24-25 October 2016.  Discussions have centred around the role media can play in “Deepening Africa’s Narrative and Capacities to Deliver Agenda 2063”.

As part of the visit to South Africa by senior editors and journalists, Brand South Africa, GCIS and Constitution Hill will highlight South Africa’s journey towards its now widely acclaimed constitutional democracy.  The country’s Constitution is still considered amongst the world’s most progressive.

Constitution Hill forms an integral part of the fabric of South Africa’s history having been a prison where both the famous and the infamous were incarcerated at the then Old Fort Prison Complex, commonly known as Number Four.

Today Constitution Hill has been transformed into a site that inspires South Africans and global citizens alike of how a nation can overcome a brutal history to become an icon of constitutional democracy.

South Africa’s Constitution remains the country’s highest law and media from the continent had an opportunity to experience South Africa’s story and journey towards overcoming its past.
