Two related notices of applications for exemption from the Competition Act have been published in the government gazette:

  • An application by certain Built Environment Professionals Councils to exempt the publication of Professional Fees Guidelines by the Professional Councils. The Professional Fees Guidelines are mandated by statutes and published to establish benchmarks for professional fees; and
  • An application by the Council for the Built Environment (acting on behalf of the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)) to exempt the Identification of Work (IDOW) rules of ECSA. The IDOW is a policy instrument that regulates and identifies the work that professionals in the engineering field may undertake based on the professional's skills and competencies.
