The African National Congress congratulates the people of the Republic of Zambia for a peaceful and successful Presidential election held last week. We commend the people of Zambia as a whole for their steady steering of the country of Zambia following the tragic passing of President Sata in November 2014. Fifty two years after independence, the country continues to be an exemplar on the continent demonstrating a stable and mature democracy . The ANC further send our warmest congratulations to the Patriotic Front whose successful election campaign culminated in the inauguration of President Edgar Lungu today. With the recent electoral victory, the ANC wishes Zambia greater resolve and impetus, as part of the family of African nations, to work towards the vision of the Africa we want now as we moved to 2063 - united, integrated, peaceful and secure, based on inclusive growth and sustainable development.
