The African National Congress in Gauteng retained two of its wards in the municipal by-election, spokesman Nkenke Kekana said on Thursday.

He said the party retained wards in Mogale City and Tshwane.

"We are satisfied with the results, these shows the confidence and trust the people have in the ANC," he said.

Three by-elections were held in Gauteng.

The ward was previously represented by the Democratic Alliance and became vacant after the resignation of the councillor.
