The ANC's parliamentary caucus has not yet expressed an opinion on President Kgalema Motlanthe's decision to axe National Prosecutions Authority boss Vusi Pikoli, the majority party's Chief Whip Mnyamezeli Booi said on Thursday.

ANC MPs would have to first study the Ginwala commission of enquiry's report before formulating a position on the matter, Booi told a media briefing at Parliament.

"Our MPs will carefully study and discuss the report of the Ginwala commission of enquiry and the recommendation of the president, to make an appropriate decision when Parliament gets an opportunity to reflect on the matter," he said.

Motlanthe axed Pikoli on Monday following an investigation into the suspended prosecutions boss' fitness to hold office. The decision had yet to be endorsed by Parliament.

A Parliamentary ad hoc committee dealing with the matter would convene in the second week of January.
